[[http://pecl.php.net|PECL]] is a repository for PHP Extensions, providing a directory of all known extensions and hosting facilities for downloading and development of PHP extensions.

The packaging and distribution system used by [[http://pecl.php.net|PECL]] is shared with its sister, [[http://pear.php.net|PEAR]]. 

There is a PECL-related RFC open at present at [[rfc:peclversioning]]. Please go and look at it and, well, comment.
